Sermon Series: Called to Share

Being a believer is about more than getting into heaven one day.  As followers of Christ, we join a long list of individuals who received a call from God to go and share with others people what God wanted them to hear.  Join us, starting Sunday, January 14, 2018, for a four-part sermon series entitled “Called to Share.”  We will learn about God’s call upon the lives of people like Samuel, Jonah, Moses, and, of course, the Apostle Paul, how they each responded to that call, and what happened when they decided to go and share what God had revealed to them.  Come and hear what God has to say through the stories of these men of old – it might just change your view of what YOU are called to do!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

On December 24, St. Peter’s will hold a special Christmas Eve worship service. Join us as we raise our voices in song on this most joyous evening to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Come and hear the ancient Gospels bring to life the story of that night so long ago when God’s love came down in the person of a tiny baby born; marvel at how a meager cattle stall became the birthplace of salvation; experience God’s gift of forgiveness as we gather around the Lord’s Table; and celebrate with us as we share the Light of Christ with one another and welcome the True Light into the world.

Longest Night

The Longest Night Service of Worship will take place at St. Peter’s UMC on Thursday, December 21, at 7:00pm.

The Longest Night Service is a time to recognize that Christmas can be a bittersweet time of the year. The constant refrain we hear during the holidays about getting together with family reminds many people of what and whom they have lost, or what they never had. Broken relationships, financial and job worries, ill health, the pain of isolation – all of these can make one feel alone in the midst of the festivities of the holidays. The Longest Night Service is an opportunity to acknowledge your sadness and concerns before God in the sacred space of worship.  It’s an opportunity to know God’s presence during this season and to sense and experience the love of others.   It’s an opportunity to experience a meditative worship service that gives time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ.

Join with us to hear scripture, offer prayers for healing and wholeness, and to hear songs that acknowledge that God’s presence is for those who mourn, for those who grieve, for those who struggle. Come and find God’s light in the darkness of the longest night of the year.

Everyone is welcome.

Sermon Series 3 Post

Sermon Series: What It’s Really All About

The weeks leading up to Christmas are a time of preparation.  We busy ourselves with addressing Christmas cards, attending holiday gatherings, and searching for that perfect Christmas gift to buy for someone we love.  Churches prepare by putting up decorations, rehearsing special music, and helping children practice for the annual Christmas play.  Christmas will be here on December 25, whether we’re ready or not!  Do we ever get so busy preparing for Christmas that we lose sight of what this season – Advent – is really all about?

Join us on Sunday mornings during Advent for a sermon series entitled “What It’s Really About.”  Remember, Advent is a season of preparation – a time for us to prepare our hearts for the coming of our Lord.
