The Light Keepers of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church are hosting an Emmaus Gathering at the church on Saturday, August 13, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. This event is open to everyone and we encourage anyone who enjoys fellowship and good food to attend. You do not have to have participated in the Walk to Emmaus to be a part of this joy-filled evening.
The evening will begin with a pig pickin’ and potluck dinner in the fellowship hall. It is a great opportunity to catch up with past friends and meet new ones as we sit together to enjoy dinner. We will then move into the Sanctuary to sing some joyful songs and hear a short talk/testimony from one of our members on God’s presence in their life and what it means to them. We will do more singing and our Pastor will lead us in celebrating communion together before ending the event.
Babysitting will be provided in the nursery for anyone with young children. We encourage you to come, celebrate with us, bring a friend, and experience wonderful fellowship as we love one another just as Christ loves us.

The “Walk to Emmaus” is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers. The objective of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip the local church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, communities and places of work. Emmaus lifts up a way for our grace-filled lives to be lived and shared with others.
